Honeymoon for Gov. Jon Corzine is over.
If there ever was a political honeymoon for Gov. Jon Corzine, it appears to be over.

In his first four months in office, the Democrat has proposed an increase in the sales tax and broken a promise to give homeowners dramatic relief from the highest property taxes in the nation.

Corzine's approval ratings have sunk, and fellow Democrats in the Legislature are hesitant to back his budget plan.

1. I am still holding out hope...
that Corzine will overcome these problems and will get our budget problems fixed. It worked for Bloomberg in NYC.

4. John has time to accomplish things.
If there is ever a time to risk political capital, it is at the beginning of a term.

Bill Clinton did the very same thing opening his Presidency. He took risks. It is necessary to take risk to do anything.

We need more of this, not less.

5. I hate to say it but Jesus Christ himself could be elected gov of NJ
and still be screwed in the ratings because that budget is so totally out of whack.

This is why Corzine tackled the tough issues first in hopes that in 4 years he'll have this mess cleaned up and New Jersey citizens purring like a docile kitty.
