At 9:30 on the 4th, my wife and I were on the beach at 2nd and JFK in N Wildwood. The tide was lapping at the sea wall, which is the highest I've seen it in years.
Anyways, to the north, Stone Harbor was having a huge display. Some revelers remaining on Champagne Island and braving the greenheads were launching some bottlerockets there. Over the horizon, we could see the displays of Avalon and possibly even Atlantic City.
At 10, the display at Maury's Piers in Wildwood kicked off, and lasted for a full 30 minutes. The highlights of the show were the fireworks that formed shapes like hearts and stuff.
Maybe it was the 1/2 bottle of Zinfandel I had just had, or maybe it was my patriotic juices, but that was a cool time to be an American. I'm not big on fireworks, but I left that display in awe. Now, if only the Philadelphites would just leave my beach, but only after stopping at my store, first....
