WASHINGTON (AP) --New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. was recommended Tuesday to serve on the powerful Ways and Means Committee by House Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi.
The Democratic Steering Committee, which assigns members to committees, recommended several new committee assignments and appointed freshman members to at least one committee on Tuesday. The remainder of assignments were to be made later this month and in January. The full Democratic Caucus will vote to approve the assignments in January.
Pascrell, D-Paterson, will be one of nine new members of
Ways and Means, considered one of the most powerful committees because it has jurisdiction over taxation issues.http://www.dailyrecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061213/NEWS02/612130328/1123/COMMUNITIES32
