Have you marked this extraordinary week of free events on your calendar? Garden State Equality's Civil Unions/Momentum to Marriage Week across New Jersey begins President's Day Monday, February 19th, the first day the civil unions law takes effect.

It's an unforgettable week of great meals... to historic interstate processsions... to a radio star and his partner's Civil Union and Vow to Win Marriage Equality that will be broadcast nationwide. All FREE -- we're not kidding. And you're invited to everything!

Garden State Equality's Civil Unions/Momentum to Marriage Week celebrates New Jersey's momentum to marriage equality in two years or less -- civil unions are a step forward and now we're going all the way!

Schedule for Garden State Equality's

Civil Unions/Momentum to Marriage Week

All events below are free!





President's Day Monday, February 19, 2007 at 11:00 am, Woodbridge Hilton, 120 Wood Avenue South, Iselin. A free champagne brunch on the first day the New Jersey civil union law takes effect (applications available in municipalities choosing to open on the holiday). What a kickoff! A deluxe champagne brunch honoring civil union couples and open to everyone, in which we all toast our goal of achieving marriage equality within two years or less.



President's Day Monday, February 19, 2007 at 7:00 pm, City Hall, 280 Grove Street, Jersey City. New York to New Jersey PATH to Progress, featuring free dinner. Some activists will take the PATH train at 6:45 pm at the Christopher Street PATH station in Manhattan, getting off at Grove Street station in Jersey City and then walking to Jersey City's City Hall. All of us will meet at City Hall, 280 Grove Street, at 7:00 pm, in a ceremony honoring Jersey City couples getting civil union licenses. At 7:30 pm, we'll all walk to free dinner at Love Is The Message, 140 Newark Avenue, underscoring our message: Achieving marriage equality within two years or less.

Garden State Equality is honored to present this event with Hudson Diversity Action Council www.HudsonDiversity.org, Chilltown Pride Center www.ChilltownPride.org, Hudson Pride Connections www.HudsonPride.org, and Jersey City Lesbian and Gay Outreach www.jclgo.org.


Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 7:00 pm in front of Starbucks, 4A East Bridge Street, New Hope. Pennsylvania to New Jersey Crossing the Delaware to Progress, featuring free dinner. Meet at Starbucks at 7:00 pm, 4A East Bridge Street, New Hope, Pennsylvania. We'll hand out cups of hot cocoa as we walk over the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge, crossing the Delaware River. We'll wind up for free dinner at Rick's Restaurant, 19 South Main Street, Lambertville, New Jersey. Note: The whole trip is a three-block walk, a short journey evoking the short time until we achieve marriage equality within two years or less.


Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 10:30 pm, Brick Wall restaurant, Asbury Park. Countdown supper to the first day that couples actually get civil unioned, featuring free late-night supper. A free late-night supper at the Brick Wall, where we figuratively climb the brick wall of civil unions on our way to achieving marriage equality within two years or less.

Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 7:00 pm, Woman's Club of Maplewood, 60 Woodland Road, Maplewood. Statewide rally with clergy and mayors on the first day that couples actually get civil unioned (72 hour waiting period is over for initial couples), featuring the free "Sweet Taste of New Jersey." Includes a complete ceremony -- the Civil Union and Vow to Win Marriage Equality of Sirius OutQ Radio star Larry Flick and his partner Shane Owen. Followed by a free "Sweet Taste of New Jersey" gourmet dessert reception for all, capping off an amazing week of history and looking forward to achieving marriage equality within two years or less.
