Rutgers students walk out of class to protest war
Any student who walked out of my class to protest this war would be in danger of getting an A:

Rutgers students walk out of class to protest war
Posted by The Star-Ledger March 20, 2007 2:08PM

Hundreds of Rutgers University students waving American flags walked out of classes at 1:30 this afternoon today to protest the fourth anniversary of the war in Iraq with a march through the College Avenue campus in New Brunswick.

The campus-wide walk out is meant to encourage students at other universities across the nation to speak out against the war, students said.

'I don't support a war that was based on lies," said Christine DeVito, 21, of Princeton Junction, who skipped a Principles of Literature class to join the demonstration. "I want the troops out of there. War is never the answer and by speaking out today, it makes us feel like we have a voice."

DeVito, holding a rainbow flag that says "We the people say no to the Bush agenda" and wearing a shirt with a large green peace sign on her back, was joined by her friend Liz Genne-Bacon, 20, who skipped a Genetic Analysis class.

1. Seems like old times
I remember walking out of classes, occupying Old Queens, and protesting at the ROTC building at Rutgers back in 1969-70.

When the Vietnam war ended, I remember wishing that I never had to protest another war, because American had learned its lesson.

No such luck.

All my best to the new generation of protesters!

2. I go to rutgers too.
I don't see the point in walk-outs at colleges. It is like preaching to the choir. Go to Trenton or DC and make a commotion. I remember when the budget got cut, the student union organized a walk out and went to the president's office to protest the cuts. The president was against the cuts too....so I don't know why they bothered...seemed fairly counterintuitive.
