Remember pre-election Menendez scandal? Was it part of US attorney story?
I forget details of the Mendendez case. I think it was something about renting a house.

But could that be part of the US Attorney scandal, in which the White House encouraged cooperative U.S. Attorneys to prosecute Democrats, and then replaced uncooperativer attorneys?

A U.S. Attorney pre-election Democratic-corruption case in Wisconsin was criticized by the judge and decided by the jury in just 26 minutes (innocent).

1. "weak-looking allegations against Senator Robert Menendez"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=167&topic_id=3947&mesg_id=3974

"Ms. Thompson's case is not the only one raising questions about whether prosecutors tried last year to tilt close elections toward the Republicans. New Jersey's federal prosecutor conducted an investigation of weak-looking allegations against Senator Robert Menendez that was used in Republican ads. Congress should look into both cases to determine whether partisan politics played a role - and whether they were coordinated with anyone at the Justice Department or the White House."

2. And here's a link to archived Menendez attack website.
Thanks Charly for the link.

Oh yeah, the attorney scandal and New Jersey are connected. One blogger in the link you provided counted the public corruption investigations by New Jersey US Attorney Chris Christie. "We found a total of 151 investigations, 114 of Democrats, 32 of Republicans and five for which we couldn't ID a party."

Here's a link to a Republican attack website against Menendez. http://web.archive.org/web/20060410095121/http://bobsbaggage.com/

Glad he won.
