Christie fired Schundler
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/08/gov_chris_christie_asks_nj_sch.html

Gov. Chris Christie fired state education commissioner Bret Schundler this morning after Schundler refused to resign in the wake of the controversy over the state's loss of up to $400 million in federal school funding, two officials briefed on the situation said.

Christie's chief of staff, Richard Bagger, ordered Schundler to turn in his resignation Thursday night after federal officials released a video that appeared to contradict the commissioner's account of what transpired when the New Jersey delegation met with the federal officials to review funding application and review process.

By this morning Schundler had not quit, so Christie ordered his termination.

1. Good for Governor Christie
We are one of the 'highest paying into the till' states in America.

That money should have RIGHTFULLY come back to the citizens of this state.

That guy screwed up big time - so now he's gotta go.

3. Did you read the article?
How would you have liked for him to take responsibility?

He fired the guy who screwed up and lied about it. I would have done the same if I had to wear his shoes.

4. This will be interesting to watch
I want to see if Schundler's unemployment claim is going to be approved! I can't believe he requested to be fired so he could collect unemployment. He said he's got a mortgage to pay and a kid in college.

Now, he's a republican, right? Why doesn't he just grab onto his bootstraps and PULL?

5. How many times does this story skip the important factors? Corzine's admin completed the
proposal. It had been accomplished with the cooperation of the NJEA which agreed to some cuts.

A right-wing radio blabber complained because he did not like the State working with "the enemy '(teachers are enemies to them).

Fatboy pulled back the completed proposal so that the offending language could be removed.

Schundler did not have enough time (one weekend) to amend the package, so he missed the fact that they had substitutied incorrect information of correct info.

Result - Feds rejected INCORRECT application.

Chrissie blames someone else.

Arranges to fire him so he can get unemployment.

6. I had heard about Corzine submitting the CORRECT numbers, too
I'm watching the repeat of Rachel Maddow right now and this whole mess is her top story. She's doing an excellent job of explaining the whole mess. She even mentioned the unemployment issue, pointing out Schundler's conservative history and praise from Newt Gingrich! Looks like Christie's pants are on fire with this one....Schundler's going to be releasing e-mails, HA!!!

7. As I understand the Christie Education bungle
Jon Corzine submitted an application that would have won New Jersey federal education money.

BECAUSE a Democrat did it, Christie withdrew the well-written application and AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE rewrote it and submitted his version.

His version had errors that his education commissioner, given a chance to correct, did not correct (was not able).

New Jersey loses out on $400,000,000 of education funds.

The education commissioner is fired (so he can collect unemployment)

Christie tries to lay the blame on Obama
