Assemly Speaker Oliver writes a letter regarding Chris Christie's fraudulent transportation plan

Chris Christie's abandonment of his constituents for his Disney World blizzard vacation is the perfect metaphor for Christie's entire governorship. New Jersey, please wake up already. This buffoon is perpetrating fraud after fraud on our state and when he's through he'll be on his way to Washington leaving us in worse condition than ever. Just like he did on his trip to Florida to see Mickey.

"Borrowing $4B is a troubling plan

The governor has slapped together a haphazard plan to fund the state's transportation needs that relies on many of the same gimmicks for which he has long derided others. With more than half of the $8 billion plan funded by irresponsible borrowing, one would have to question the suspect timing of his announcement.

This is not what the governor had promised to do. Instead of putting forth an innovative proposal to address our critical transportation needs, the plan would simply saddle the residents of the state with more debt.

Moreover, nearly one-quarter of the funding plan relies on yet-to-be obtained approval from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

In the days and weeks ahead, the Assembly will certainly pore over the proposal to see how we can improve upon this plan.

Sheila Y. Oliver,

East Orange

The writer, a Democrat who represents the 34h District, is speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly."
