Forrester Makes it Official
I received a humorous piece of junk mail today. As expected, Doug Forrester is announcing his gubernatorial campaign.

He starts off with two knee slappers. First he addresses me as "Dear Friend" and then he thanks me for my past support. Actually we did meet in Belmar during his Senate run. I politely let him know exactly how I felt about him. Guess he couldn't place the name. ;-)

He talks about the Republican :wtf: philosophy of lower taxes, less debt and accountability. Then he says I'm probably as happy as him that the chimp was re-elected. :argh:

Probably looking to take an early and decisive lead in the primaries. A good move on his part. Also, gets an early start on fund-raising. It also puts him back in the public eye for the whole of Codey's abbreviated term - another smart move.

If anyone's interested in a laugh, or to keep tabs on him, it's www.doug2005.com

1. I already had a good laugh at his expense tonight...
I'd never heard of him before...and during a commercial break from Larry King's interview of Bill Maher, I'm stunned by seeing, of all things, an election ad??? Now??? But the dancing politicians were funny. :P

The man's bonkers if you ask me. Another rich businessman trying to buy his way into office.

3. Thats funny...
let him and Shundler beat the shit out of each other because neither one has a shot in hell at winning.

Is it just me or does Forrester remind you of Richard Nixon a little? he came and spoke to my HS government class when he was running for senate and all I could think of was Nixon when he spoke

4. Perhaps the hairpiece and the cheeks are a little Nixon-esque
We should make fun of him for that

5. Early warning
Gannett newspapers are already "endorsing" Forrester for governor.

Guenther at the Courier-Post wrote a walks-on-water "news" story about him that would surely get Guenther a job as GOP speechwriter, except that it's far more effective for the GOP to plant their PR writers directly into newsrooms.

Guenther's column may have run in all the corporation's NJ newspapers: Asbury Park Press, Camden Courier-Post, Vineland, New Brunswick Home News-Tribune and Woodbridge Courier-News.

The Guenther piece is, frankly, appalling in its lack of journalistic integrity. For example, it says "Polls show" that both Schundler and Forrester have "the most public support" compared to Corzine, Codey and Andrews. Yet, I'm pretty sure I read a Star-Ledger A1 story last week on a poll showing Corzine would win by 27 points, Codey 20 and even Andrews 14 or 17 points against either Schundler or Forrester. This also goes on and on about the "disgraced" Democrats' "conga line of corruption," even though neither McGreevey nor Toricelli ever was convicted of anything, were they?

7. No they weren't
:wtf: And what about all the recent Republican scandals? Like Christie Whitman's EZ Pass giveaway?
Was anyone ever run out of town faster than Donald DiFrancesco?
And what about John Bennett, who helped himself to public funds and became the Asbury Park Press poster boy for corruption?

Sounds more than a little biased to me.

Corzine or Codey will get to run against one of these two tired losers. Forrester or Schundler, huh? It will be a funny campaign. Between the two of them, Forrester (Mr. "I'm not Toricelli") or Schundler (Mr. "I'm to right wing for my own good"), neither has much of a chance. But it should be entertaining, to say the least, if not less...
