Codey moved to expand the Turnpike in Central Jersey, from 6 to 8A. Everyone down here knows that this stretch is a nightmare almost 24x7. I usually hop off and take the back roads.
This was a bold, risky move. It tells me that Codey is not just there to keep the seat warm. It will cost him some political capital, but it is the right thing for the State. NJ's been building up a lot of jobs as the Port activity finally starts to expand. Dredging the harbor and improving the piers and terminals can keep bringing the ships in. Once they're unloaded, they need distribution points to store and sort the goods. If the Turnpike is not improved, that growing business will go to Pennsylvania.
