Dear Coalition for Peace Action Supporter,
I apologize for sending two E-alerts so close together, but I just learned that the West Windsor, New Jersey municipal council will be considering a resolution against abuses in the USA Patriot Act on Monday evening, December 6. The organizing committee has written the invitation in quotes below, and asked that I send it out encouraging you come and support this resolution. See details below, and a draft of the resoltuion, by members of the municipal council, below my name.
You are invited to join with the West Windsor Citizens for Civil Liberties on Monday, December 6, 2004, in support of a Resolution before the West Windsor Council raising concerns about the Patriot Act.
"This Resolution has been developed by the members of the West Windsor Council following its November 15th Agenda Meeting. At that meeting a majority of the Council members expressed their sympathy with the concerns voiced by members of the WWCCL and other members of the community. The Council determined, at that time, that a somewhat simpler Resolution would expedite its passage. Below is the revised Resolution.
We invite you to join with us on Monday, December 6th, 2004, to support passage of the revised Resolution. We feel that the Resolution sends a strong signal regarding West Windsor Township's concern about the Patriot Act and its impact on civil liberties. West Windsor will be joining over 350 municipalities, counties and states in passing similar resolutions. In Mercer County resolutions have been passed by Princeton Borough, Ewing Township, Lawrenceville Township, and most recently the Mercer County Board of Freeholders.
The Meeting is at 8:00pm on Monday, December 6th in the West Windsor Municipal Building, 271 Clarksville Road, West Windsor, NJ 08550. See this link for driving directions:
