4. Which town and where?
I can't count on my health from one day to the next, but I'll probably be in town until at least mid March.

6. If you're insisting on brunch, then the Frontier Restaurant
on Central Ave. across the street from NMU is the place. The food is good, cheap and plentiful and they serve breakfast food 24 hours a day. The ambiance is a little strange; street people, students, suburbanites, artists and an occasional gangsta, but their fresh flour tortillas and cinnamon buns are to die for.

For lunch, I know one great Vietnamese place and one great New Mexican place, but we'd have to get to the latter at 11:30 to avoid the line and I don't know if everybody will be ready for hot stuff that early.

Note that these places are all prole food. I've been to a few of the supposedly posh places in town and have been very unfavorably impressed with the cuisine.

7. Prole food is usually best here anyhow.
Not to dis some very fine eateries here in Fanta Se, but the best joints are always where you can get your huevos plus coffee for less than ten bux.

affirmatively,
Bright

16. All three of my suggestions will do that
unless we really lose track of time because we're yacking away. Service is efficient and so is the kitchen staff.

Just slug it out and let me know which one.

13. How about the Flying Star on Rio Grande? Or if that one is out of the way for most people
perhaps someone could suggest another Flying Star?

Casa Rondena Winery is also a nice place to meet if the weather is nice out but March can be windy. Perhaps that could be our first choice and the Flying Star on Rio Grande as a back up if the weather is bad?

15. There is a Flying Star on Paseo Del Norte about a mile east of I-25
Paseo Del Norte crosses the freeway on the north end of town.

20. Yes, they have a lot of vegetarian stuff. It's kind of a hippie / healthy type place
where everything is made from scratch.

24. I've never been there
but if it's good, I'm certainly willing to try it.

It's a bit of a slog for me but just give me good directions and I'll be there.

18. Well, if y'all don't mind a wee bitty drive, there's always the Range Cafe...
...in Bernalillo. Up the road and just a spit off I-25 and the food is... well. Quite good. Veg and meat options.

diffidently,
Bright

22. I can drive if I know where I'm going
and I have very good directions. Don't give me street names, tell me to turn left at such and such supermarket or gas station, maybe the street name only as backup information.

The DMV thinks I can see well enough to drive, just can't see well enough to read street identification signs until I'm right on top of 'em.

25. Alrighty, I will compile landmarks...
...and it's pretty simple overall. Just get off 25 at the first of the two Bernalillo exits (I think it's about 10 mi. north of town) and head back west to Bernalillo. Turn right at the only significant intersection, toward the "middle" of town. It's right there on the west side of the street, spang in the middle of town across from the hardware store and grocery store.

But there ARE landmarks, a gas station at that intersection (on the left near side,) and definitely a gym that doesn't look like a gym, it looks like an abandoned office building, on the right. There's a stop light. It might be the only one in town until you get pretty far north.

I'll nail 'em down.

helpfully,
Bright

28. I'm having another eye surgery, a surprise one, on the 14th
and I don't know if the eye will be patched and I'll be unable to drive or if I'll be in too much pain or what is going to happen.

So put me down as a definite "maybe."

12. I would love to. I tried a DU New Mexico meet up several years ago
and only two of us showed up. But it looks like this is a little more organized. It would be nice if we could get at lest five DUers or more.

Keep the reminders coming so we don't forget.

30. Sorry to be late . . .
but I would suggest any of the Flying Star Cafes. My favorite is the one on Rio Grande, but the one down-town is good too. I think the food and setting it a bit better at the Rio Grande one, but it is a lot busier than the down-town one. Of course there is the one in Nob Hill as well. My favorite Veggie dish is the Buddha Bowl with tofu. They have lots of non-veggie dishes as well. AND the deserts are amazing, my favorite being the apple pie.

I've shied away from DU since John Edwards dropped out. I've been in a major funk and depression about politics since then. I dropped in to see what was going on with the DU Alburquerque met up before it gets to close to March 26th.
