So how do you guys like Gov. Richardson?
Is he much of an improvement over Johnson, in your opinion?

My bro works for the state (bio-med), his group had its field innoculation budget slashed when Richardson took over. Wasn't too pleased with that.

1. He's done pretty well on most things.
We were the only state (according to Richardson) to get a cut in our state income tax rates last year. We're one of only a handful of states that have not had higher ed problems, but that was true under Johnson as well. Richardson is big on trade with Mexico, something that prior administrations took little interest in. And, it looks like he's going to take action on the water issues, which is long overdue.

I'd give him about a B+ so far. Above average, considering we're a poor state with only 1.7 million population.

6. He's good for this State.
He also signed the grocery tax out. As of January 1, 2005, no more grocery tax.

where is our money... sure there are tax cuts but the deficit will rise... that did not happen under Johnson and further tax cuts and deficit booming is reminiscent of Bush boy.

on edit: for those who do not know... the tax cuts were for the "Most Wealthiest" New Mexicans... let's not fuck around.... at this point the Governor has a wish list for making the state richer but all he is doing is making it poorer by spending the state's money... slash - slash at social programs, any body get medicaid? I do, I had a braintumor and have been out of work for six months now it's 'cut 'cut on medicaid let alone to say... that most medicaid recipiants are children, nothing like taking healthcare away from the children...and alas when Richardson came into office we had a surplus and now we have a deficit and the future projections at his current spending spree will put us in a default...

Richardson = mega trouble Californian style Economics

5. We hate NAFTA down here, and Richardson was Clinton's arm-twister
for NAFTA.Big demonstration against NAFTA at Western, almost got arrested, including a vet in a wheelchair. There were gobs of state "development" people down here in state cars, on state money, and we will probably see a few jobs selling imported Mexican whatevers. All bennies go to Mexican fat cats(really the Lexuses and Mercedes Benzes were in plentiful supply.)RichaRDSON IS not POPULAR DOWN HERE, SINCE WE ARE 12% gREEN, PLUS GREEN dEMOCRATS. hE STARTS EVERY SPEECH WITH, "i KNOW MOST OF YOU DID NOT VOTE FOR ME, BUT i AM STILL YOUR GOVERNOR."

Improvement over vacation-and-veto governor, BUT.
