How does Heather Wilson win that district over and over again
Both Gore and Kerry won that district, yet Wilson gets re-elected over and over again.

This time, she got only 54% of the vote; could this be a potential pickup

1. Air Force people
She's retired AF. Also, women seem to be quite fond of her.

It could be a pick-up. She should have beaten Romero by more than she did.

3. We could definitly take the district back
As a whole, I'm pretty sure this district went to Kerry. Romero just kinda has this 'Santa Fe insider' vibe to him that turned a some voters against him. I've seen a lot of people with a very negative view of the state legistlature. I really hope someone else gets the nomination for '06, not that I personally dislike Romero, he's just shown he can't win. If he really really wants to go to Washington let him move to Santa Fe and wait until Udall retires.

2. She is very involved...
Wilson is very involved with constituents concerns and is one of the most accessible national politicians I've seen.

I'm not saying I agree with all of her viewpoints, but I can see her appeal.

4. I live in Pearce's district....
& wonder how the hell ABQ keeps electing her over and over every year. She is so ultra conservative that she should be representing MS or AL for that matter.

Here's an interesting question though: Suppose she decides to try and run for the Senate vs. Bingaman in 06, then a Democrat would have a pretty good chance to fill her spot and I think Bingaman would beat her by a decent margin. If Bingaman were to retire I would be worried about her taking the seat.

Maybe Patricia Madrid (AG) or Rebecca Vigil-Giron (SOS) has some type of interest in the spot, just need to run a good campaign without Romero! My district is useless with the redneck vote in the southeast, they wouldn't even elect Bill Clinton to represent this district.

5. Hey, mmendoza01! Also south of Burque
We live in Pearce's district too, in Los Lunas. Jeez, I hoped once Skeen left office we might get somebody halfway decent, but Pearce is just a kneejerk winger. Wish we'd get redistricted enough to pick up some Dem votes from the solid Norte.

7. Yeah you really are suffering....
I at least live in Las Cruces which is mostly Democratic. Otero is so darn hardcore red it isn't even funny. What is the main reason? I know that they must have some type of Hispanic population that would make it a little more honest but is it the base & "moral values"?

8. I'm at a total loss at why, so....
the only way I can explain it is she cheats like Bush cheats. Richard Romero is a much superior person to Heather, so it was either all the money the Reps. put into Heather....or she cheats.

I can't believe the lies she said in her commercials. How could she keep a straight face? I hear from a Republican insider, that even the Republicans think she is stupid, but then, she always votes the party line.
