1. Hiya, janx!
Moved here myself in November, I'm in Santa Fe. As far as I can tell we have a pretty good (if a bit flamboyant) goober, one really good Senator, and one idiot Senator. It's a small state and most of the political in-groups have been around a LONG time, so I'm content to watch and learn for awhile, too...

optimistically,
Bright

3. Thanks for the info. I have friends here, and that's why
(in part) I relocated. I have noticed how "small" the state is, and I love it. I was beginning to feel claustrophobic in Colorado. But I can still get to my favorite unspoiled part of that state in a few hours (the San Juans, etc.), so that's great too.

Who is the idiot senator? :hi:

2. Alb. , especially in your area and towards UNM are
extremely liberal. The rest of the city is mixed, but Lib-heavy. Pick up an 'Alibi' each week, shop at La Montanita, and hang in the UNM area (Zinc, Yannis...). It's a great city full of retired Sandia Labs and Los Alamos Labs folk (most are very liberal), students, dissidents, and those who are too odd to name.

I'm here now... I am always here in my heart - but cursed to live in Silicon Valley. I come here every Christmas.... Cervantes, Durans, Los Cuates.... the food is to die for, and almost all of my family is here.

You are in a good place.

4. Thanks, a.l.l. --
Where is La Montanita? I can ask my friends, I guess; one of them has lived here for over 30 years and has been involved with UNM Press for as long.

I was lucky enough to get some adjunct teaching work with UNM Valencia campus just as soon as I arrived, and I'll pick up some more work at NM Tech this spring (though the drive will be a challenge)...I am looking into opportunities on the main campus. I've been there, and it's beautiful.

I love posole! A nearby restaurant (you may know it--far west Menaul) is Mananitas, and they have the best! But they are no longer sharing the recipe. All the waitress would tell me is that they use snipped chilis as opposed to any kind of ground chilis. A real treat is to go there and have a bowl of posole and a tortilla--it is simple and delicious.

People like their posole so much that they serve a complimentary cup with each order...but I have to have more than a cup, because the stuff is better than anything else on the menu.

Anyway, it would be fun to meet for coffee or something.

The natural colors in this state are unbelievable. The sky is gorgeous. And I enjoy the drive to Valencia campus. My friends introduced me to Bosque del Apache in November. Unbelievable!

What are Zinc, Yannis? Thanks again for your reply. :hi:
