I signed up for their e-mails, probably even before I joined DU, and I frequently get e-mails about what's going on in my area (Glens Falls/Saratoga), meetups, gatherings, protests, help needed for elections (they recruit folks to make phone calls from all over the country), petitions that need signing, all sorts of things... :)
http://front.moveon.org/Also, when my congresswoman, Kirsten Gillibrand, was appointed senator and we had the special election here to fill her empty seat, I just walked into Democratic campaign headquarters and asked how I could help. In the past two elections, I've made GOTV phone calls, stuffed envelopes, gone door-to-door, and they're always grateful for help. It's also a great way to meet people and get connected. They'd love to have you and that's what they need, people willing to donate their time. And they'd be lucky to have you, since you must be informed because you're here on DU! Good luck! :hi:
