Anyone here from Troy?
I've been researching my family, and would like to ask a couple questions.

3. I think I am...
that was 1988. I'm sure Troy is much nicer now. :-)

If you want to get to know the area a little bit, read William Kennedy's O Albany!: Improbable City of Political Wizards, Fearless Ethnics, Spectacular Aristocrats, Splendid Nobodies, and Underrated Scoundrels. It focuses, as one might presume from the title, on Albany but if I recall there's a little bit about Troy in there too -- besides, it's a fun read.

4. Thank you.
I think I'll look it up. I live in Michigan, but I thinking about going to Troy this summer. My great great Grandfather was a butcher, my Great Grandfather had something to do with the schools, and my Grandmother grew up there.

6. Really? Didn't know that.
A whole bunch of them packed up and moved to Detroit around 1910 or 1920. I'm trying to find the ones that stayed.
