Mayoral debate this morning on CBS
Did anyone watch it? It was not announced anywhere - caught it by chance at 11 AM. Kurtzman, Marsha Kramer and a peepsquick from NYT were unbelievable rude to all, but the debate was pretty good.
I was considering voting for Anthony Weiner before (he's been a Clark supporter like me), but after watching them all, I switched to Gifford Miller.
I liked Weiner's idea of taxing millionaires, but the 'return to basics" and 'discipline' in schools sounded Bushistic to me.
I mostly resented Weiner's repeated "we lost 3 municipal elections and if we won't do A, B or C, we'll lose again. It was a refrain. Plus his support of faith schools. Ferrer - the usual slippery demagogue, Fields - lighter in content than I expected - although definitely the most personable (all men were quite obnoxious).

1. GOP dirty tricks
" Just as his campaign was showing progress, Weiner was the target of a raucous noontime rally outside his campaign headquarters by several dozen members of unions that back Bloomberg.
They were protesting Weiner's remark in a debate Tuesday that "the city's labor leadership should hang their heads in shame" over their GOP endorsements.
More than three dozen demonstrators - who brought a 15-foot inflatable rat - carried placards saying, "Cheap Sound Bites Talk, Labor Walks," and chanted derisive slogans.
"I'm not sure what the protest was about," Weiner said. "They endorsed a Republican, a guy whose party has been fighting hard against working people from the moment they took office ."

2. My personal favorite is Weiner
I like his ideas and brashness. Of course I don't live in NYC so my opinion doesn't matter that much. Any Democrat that wins is gonna have a tough time beating Bloomberg. Bloomberg hasn't done that bad of a job, and if I lived in NYC it wouldn't be totally out of the question for me to vote for him.

for millionaires) - and he was a Clark supporter. Also, from this NY Post article - he went to the first debate right after kidney stones extraction

Also, according to my mailbox, Miller seems to be the only one reaching to grassroots.
One more thing: if Ferrer gets the nomination, I'll be staying home come Election Day.

4. Not impressed
I'm honestly sick of seeing the same old faces talking the same old, same old. We need some new blood in this city.

I will probably go with Fields even though there's no way in hell she'd ever get elected. It's about time we had a black woman as mayor and she has some good ideas. Well, she bugs me the least...if she doesn't get the nomination, I'm gonna have to hold my nose.
