October 13, 2005 -- Selling MetroCard "swipes" on the sneak could soon land you in jail.

Under a state law that goes into effect Oct. 19, anyone who sells subway access through the use of unlimited-ride MetroCards or regular MetroCards that have been doctored can be sentenced to up to three months. The penalty now for selling a ride is a $75 fine.

Scammers are ripping off $10 million per year, officials said.

Wait, wait, wait... 10 MILLION??? Now, I can believe that's how much the MTA's been ripping off NYers, but ride selling at $10 MILLION?
