Did anyone else's morning get screwed up by that W. 4 ST subway fire
yesterday (10/21) morning?

I had to cancel a doctor's appt because I was stranded on the train for almost 30 mins. as the conductor alerted us about a "police investigation."

Every time I hear "police investigation" I picture Popeye Doyle playing subway hopscotch with Alain Charnier.

1. Fortunately, I walk to work.
That is the third time this year that there has been a fire at that station. I live in the West Village and work on Union Square so I don't take the subway, however our offices are moving to Soho in December and that would be the line I would take on rainy or very cold days. :scared:

2. i was
grrrrrrrrrrr.

of course they only put the yellow tape downstairs at 14th/8th rather than at the street level.

came upstairs and... saw the bus sitting there! then realized why: 55 people on line trying to get on a full bus. 25 people hailing cabs. so i had to go to 7th ave and walk from 7th/51st back over to 55 and 9th.

grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

5. If it wasn't for the 90 min-2 hr commute to work, I'd ride the bus daily
Actually, I DELIBERATELY breezed in super late one morming when I saw a new M4 with cushioned seats. Talk about heaven!! It was worth every minute of tardiness.
