Can someone give me a reason I should vote for Ferrer tomorrow?

1. Ferrer didn't write $100s of thousand in checks to Republicans

including Bush 2004, didn't host the RNC, didn't arrest 3500 Americans for disagreeing with him. Ferrer didn't forbid the use of Central Park by Democrats while permitting it to be used by self-promoter Christo.

Ferrer didn't try to buy $1-billion+ worth of public land for $100-million (west side rail yards). Didn't close firehouses or cut fire squads. Didn't try to give $20-billion in tax funds to the 2012 olympic games.

And best of all, he didn't use machines and phone banks to call every NYer at home 5 times in the last 2 months.

Bloomberg is playing the Unions off of each other and gets away with claiming to be a Democrat while being the biggest of Republicans.

I could add generously to the list... but I don't see the point. The excuse-making for Bloomberg on the part of some liberals has taken on comic proportions.

OK, OK, you win. Bloomberg is secretly an antiwar, progressive liberal democrat who didn't realize Bush was going to scuttle Roe V. Wade, still doesn't realize it, uses his vast fortune solely for the benefit of mankind, actually supports gay rights ( just doesn't like rights for gays) is in favor of peace in Iraq ( as long as military victory precedes it), and is correct in his interpretation of the constitution to mean that freedom of speech and assembly are contingent on governmental approval.

Ferrer or even go to the polls. I know this is terrible not to vote, but I dont know enough about Ferrer, except that he trashes Bloomberg, to pull the lever for him.

I wrote some stuff in response to the OP about Ferrer, his background, and related issues. I'd qualify a point or two now, but basically it gives you the skinny on Fernando.

No, he's not Roosevelt, or even Clinton; but he's MUCH preferable to Bloomberg.

8. Because of September 11th

Ferrer would have won the Democratic primary on September 11, 2001 had it not been cancelled because of the attack on the World Trade Center. Ferrer's campaign theme of "two New Yorks" had resonance back then. Unfortunately, the whole political spectrum shifted to the right, enabling the otherwise undistinguished Mark Green to snatch a primary victory away from Ferrer.

The then humongously popular Rudy Giuliani anointed Bloomberg as his successor. But had September 11th not happened, Bloomberg would have been crushed in the general election. And today it would be Ferrer who would be a prohibitive favorite for re-election.

One good reason to vote for Ferrer is to show poll watchers you're out there. You don't have to like him to vote for him. He's not going to win.

It makes a difference that Democrats vote for Democrats.
