Suozzi wins second term as Nassau Exec, Rice leads DA race over Dillon

Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi, who has hinted he may run for governor next year, easily swept to re-election Tuesday, becoming the first Democrat to be returned to the county's highest office in four decades.
In the race for district attorney in Nassau County, 30-year incumbent Republican Denis Dillon was trailing his Democratic challenger Kathleeen Rice, a former federal prosecutor.
With 33 percent of the vote counted, Suozzi led his Republican challenger, former Hempstead town supervisor Greg Peterson, 51 percent to 36 percent With the same number of votes counted in the DA's race, Rice led Dillon, 54 percent to 46 percent.
