The Republican message against him next year will likely be "Spitzer is an anti-business socialist who will let New York lose more jobs." The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post are already watching him like hawks. What I want to do is get a list of potential Republican talkingpoints and work on this thread with other willing posters to debunk them ahead of time. We cannot be unarmed when the Freepers and Norquist-types start bombarding us on the streets in the future about how Spitzer is "anti-business." We must beat the Swift Boaters first.

1. He is pro business

good business. The good companies know this, it's the bad practices that make it difficult or impossible to exist, to do the right thing. All he's doing is calling the bad apples what they are so good business can be truly competitive on a level playing field.

3. This doesn't seem like a problem

For example, the he didn't directly give the money to Carrion for his Israel trip, he gave it to the ADL and they frivolously spent it themselves. Also, most of the money he has given has been for good causes and he is not in charge of where the frivolous payments go.
