to run against Sue Kelly!

John Hall, a member of the group Orleans, who has public experience will be running in the Primary in order to eventually run against Sue Kelly.
She must be defeated!

A message from John Hall

I've always been proud of our country, but we all deserve to be proud of our government. Dishonesty, cronyism, and pandering to special interests have damaged the reputation and interests of the United States of America both at home and around the world.

If elected, I will be a voice for truth. No more "Clear Skies" initiative that allows more greenhouse gases in our air; no more "Healthy Forests" plan that lets timber companies build roads and cut prime trees in our national forests. No more tax "reform" bills that result in a greater gap between rich and poor, and especially no more wars based on false premises.

It's time to REDEFINE NATIONAL SECURITY to include all the factors that make the United States of America strong and safe, in the present and future. Health care, education, energy and the environment are all part of our national security.

I've been blessed with a successful career in the music business, but I'm so concerned about the direction the Bush administration and the Delay/Hastert/Kelly Congress are taking our Country that I am committing myself fully to this campaign. I am not beholden to any special interest group, and will do my best to represent all the citizens of the 19th District.

Politics has become a millionaire's game, and I am not one. It takes an obscene amount of money to mount a Congressional campaign. Please give as generously as you can, and together we can begin to take our country back.

Thank you for your involvement and your assistance.

1. This is my Congressional district
Edited on Sat Feb-18-06 05:35 PM by Ignacio Upton
I'm sick and tired of Sue Kelly winning every time with only token opposition. The guy who ran last time, Ben Jalamin, is a good example of this. We need to follow Dean's advice on contesting even supposedly "safe" incumbents, and fight Sue. BTW, did you know that she took over $12,000 from DeLay's ARMPAC?

BTW, a great site to read on the truth about Sockpuppet Sue is http://take19.blogspot.com/
Personally, I'm technically neutral as to who I want to be the Democratic candidate, but so far I like Hall and Shuldiner the best, based on what I've read about their stances on the issues. Each candidate, however, would be an improvement over Sockpuppet Sue, and I will happily vote for them on November 7.

2. yes, I do know about Kelly taking that money from Delay's Pac and I
cannot stand her. I have written her umpteen times as well as called her office and it's the same BS lockstep with the sociopath in chief.

This tends to be a GOP district but hopefully there are enough people who have had it. There are also a lot of people moving up here from the city, and that might make a big difference this year. In 2000 there were tons of Bush/Cheney lawn signs and bumper stickers and 2004 showed a marked decrease. I have driving around with an impeach * bumpersticker, amongst others and so far, not one negative comment! ;)

Thanks for providing the link and I've been there. Have a great weekend neighbor! :)

3. I fear only Richard Brodsky can beat Sue Kelly in 2006
I like Hall best out of the five announced candidates.

7. Exactly... Cuomo, anyone can be NYSAG
I know that Brodsky is the liberal, progressive choice for NYSAG. Frankly, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK! He can beat Sue Kelly...anyone (any running Dem) can beat Jean Perrio for NYSAG.

I wish that there was a way to convince Brodsky to unseat Sue Kelly. I am very confident that none of the 5 (www.take19.org) currently running, nor any previous candidate for the dems (Selendey or that rat worm that ran last time... you know... that crook) will come within 10 points of Kelly. That being said, I really like John Hall.

In NYSCD 19, we have a strong statewide campaign (all statewide dems should win in a landslide), a strong local dem party, awesome grassroots, and a weak GOP (Bush is weak and Sue Kelly will run away from Bush). IT IS FUCKED UP THAT THIS RACE IS NOT REALLY WINNABLE!

8. Brodsky doesn't live in the NY-19
His State Assembly District covers central and southern Westchester. The NY-19 covers northern Westchester, all of Putnam County, most of Orange except for the area near Ulster (half of the Orange County party used to be in another district until the redistricting done in 2002.)Also, the northern tip of Rockland, and about half of Dutchess County is included. Westchester used to be a Republican stronghold, until it realigned in the early 1990's when Clinton got elected. Rockland shocked me in 2004 by going for Bush after having a voting trend similar to Westchester (although I think it's because they're more police and firefighters who live in Rockland, so 9/11 was a concern.) Putnam is Freeper country, where everyone is notoriously anti-tax (they were also the only Hudson Valley county to vote for Bob Dole in 1996, and haven't gone blue since LBJ.) Orange is fairly red, although West Point isn't the sole reason for this, and Dutchess is only slightly red and could go blue with the right candidate (Clinton won here in 1996 thanks to Perot, and Gore and Kerry only lost here narrowly.)

10. I also like Hall the best, BUT
5 candidates is WAAAY too many. We need to whittle this down to 2 or 3 if these folks are to make a dent in Kelly without depleting their resources and tapping out their base. I am keeping my powder dry until after the primary.

...Aydelotte has the most money. She is also a recent convert to the party. I've met her several times, and she's not the best speaker...tends to ramble and lose focus. I doubt if she will drop out.

...Shuldiner speaks well--too well. He is a one-issue guy. He is tenacious, and I doubt whether he will drop out.

That leaves Martorano and Rigger. Martorano says all the right things and has the advantage of actually having won an election. Rigger is smart--a great strategist. But I don't know if this is his race.

The Democratic Rural Caucus (March 3 & 4) should be interesting.

Bottom line: we need someone who can beat Sue Kelly convincingly. Me, I think Hall's probably the guy, but he's got to get through the primaries first.

11. I don't think that any of these 5 (or the last 2 candidates) can beat
Sue Kelly. This is a test for Hillary Clinton and Eliot Spitzer, imho.

13. There are 4 qualified candidates (and 1 unqualified candidate)
I think Hall is the strongest contender. I hope 2 or more candidates drop out before the primary or it could wind up looking like a circular firing squad.

Take 19's been running candidate forums/debates. If you can get to one, you'll learn a lot.
