4/29 Meet-up spot for the NYC protest

Trying to meetup before protests can sometimes turn into cat herding (I'm sure I don't help the cause). But at least with NYC protests they have a section of a street blocked off for the staging area instead of an entire park like they do in DC.

If you are coming to this protest, please print out this post. Here is the key for the above map and all the details that you need.

Light Shaded Blue area: That is the section of Broadway between 18th-22nd street where UPJ has setup the staging area for the protest. In a nutshell, everyone gathers within that area like cattle until we're allowed to start marching. There is a tendency for intersections midway between that area to be blocked off, forcing everyone to enter into the staging region at one of the two ends

Green X: This is the 23rd Street Subway Exit and probably one of the closest to the protest (i'm sure there are many others) and is part of the N/R Yellow line. HOWEVER, do not be shocked if that station closes because of overwhelming traffic. You might want to check out http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/submap.htm for more information.

Blue X: This is where we'll attempt to meetup for DU members and friends. It will be on Broadway on the corner closest to 22nd street and on the east side of the street. Hopefully some of us will be there around 10:30am but if you get there first just stake out a spot and keep a lookout for other DUers.

As for pre-breakfast - there is nothing official organized. If you think you'll be getting in early to NYC and want to call me to see where we're going, you're more than welcomed to.

2. thanks for this....
I will look for you saturday morning. I am pretty sure I will be there although I am supposed to be in New Hampshire at that time. I assume your cell phone number is the same. I wouldn't call you unless of an emergency because I am sure you will be busy with everybody else and I know my way and how to get around NYC....

so I will probably see you saturday morning. :hi:

7. i will be travelling back from new hampshire to CT friday night...
I will crash where i live in CT and I will be in the city early saturday am. i was just going to go to the place bettyellen (citybakery or something like that) listed near where we are all to meet at 10:30, depending on how early i pull into manhattan. i am taking a commuter rail in from new haven real early, probably disgustingly early, too early for friday night partiers such as yourselves. :P

8. 10:30 is in the staging area for the protest
I've opted out of breakfast because everyone is coming in from everywhere. If you get in early call me and we'll met somewhere, if not we'll see you at the blue "X" on the map above.

10. I hear ya -- it's been crazy for me, too.
If I had known how busy I'd be right now, I probably wouldn't have decided to make the trip.

13. Exactly - that reminds me
I want to check the 10-day forecast. I know they're never right this far out, but I want to get a general idea.

There are a couple other threads on this. Perhaps we should start consolidating them now?
