***Revised Gathering Spot to meet DUers Pre- March this Saturday***
We found out that the East side of Bway is going to be the site of rallys for the various groups that are marching Saturday.
Although meeting at the big inflatable rat sounds kinda cool, let me just say it's way overrated. Plus too crowded.

i say, better to carb load* at the new meeting spot:

City Bakery (outside and spreading towards 5th)
3 West 18th steps west from the northern corner of 5th Ave.
this is one block west of Bway and marchers are feeding in from 18th street
people are asked to assemble at 10:30, march is kicking off at 12.
Some DUers will be chowing down inside, some eating out of paperbags on the street.

*apologies to SharRB and the rest of the Atkins crew

1. I'm sure I'll find something to eat there!
I'm not on Atkins -- just watching myself. With all the walking we'll be doing Saturday, I can afford to eat some breakfast!

2. I still say that we should have the meeting point within the staging area

away from 18th street - perhaps at 20th street.

Not everyone makes it to the breakfast and are making it into the protest between the 10:30-12noon staging. I don't mind moving the location from within the staging around down a few blocks but perhaps maybe near the intersection of 20th street & broadway on the west side.

At the September protest, the bulk of the DUers showed up after the breakfast meetup but DC is such a pain for a meetup in the staging area because it's a big giant park.

Would organizing DUers & meetup point within the staging area work better at 20th, Broadway? I'll make a new map. I just think there will be too much flowing going in at 18th and be harder to find our crowd amidst the crowd of protesters - best be back a few! However, overall we'll encourage people to try and make the breakfast gathering if possible. Maybe I'll try and get my ass out of bed if necessary

Let me know :D

crowded as Bway. (NW corner) there's no reason we can't be there till the crowd starts feeding into the march at noonish. also giving the city bakery address gives it a bit more focus- making us much easier to find- than just a random corner.
lots of DUers are on their way to NY already and some do not have web access, that's why everyhting really had to be wrapped up wednesday.
and so it was decided last night and we did some alerts about the new location. switching locations again would be a mess, best to just stick with this.

5. Kick
Reminder, we will be meeting up at 18th & 5th, NW corner as be says, near/in front of/in City Bakery. I'll be there (I have a Texas cap on), Sharon has her "I (heart) Michigan" shirt, and I do have a DU sign & Peace Takes Courage sign. We plan to depart from the hotel at 9 a.m. & should take about 30 mins. max to reach City Bakery. see ya there!!

BTW, Lynne was not able to come in last night, so there won't be anyone from DU at Hotel Stanford after Sharon, my friend, & I leave for the march.
