Best location to view NYC July 4th fireworks?
I'm taking my *special* adult son to NYC for FIREWORKS !

Suggestions where we could spread a picnic blanket and enjoy the best view possible would be most appreciated. Thanks :hi:

1. DUMBO, brooklyn
there's a park on the waterfront between the brooklyn and manhattan bridges(i forget the name)which has the most spectacular view of manhattan and the east river. you won't need the fireworks... go anytime for films, art exhibits and concerts.

2. Got it.....
I'll be coming in from midtown Manhattan (W.48th) are these stops within walking distance to the viewing area?:

Subway stops: F to York Street or A, C to High Street

My son can't walk too far.

Otherwise, I've come up with the FDR in midtown, Battery Park and Roosevelt Island on the travel sites.

Thanks :hi:

4. it's a long walk
you could also try the promenade in brooklyn heights. the subway is more accessible(clark street or civic center) and the streets are bustling(montague has lots of cafes and places to relax) and easily navigated if there's a problem walking. keep me posted.

6. Spreading a picnic blanket is out of the question...
with the possible exception of the southern tip of Roosevelt Island, which charges admission. Crowds are all standing elsewhere. I usually go below the Brooklyn Heights promenade on Furman Street (walk down Joralemon St from the Borough Hall subway station); less crowded than upstairs.

5. I love the DUMBO site, and most of all....
I love that this might be another DU NYCer meetup sort of plan !?

I'm locked in for my hotel (midtown). Blankies and lovely beverages and snacks on someone's lawn!?

Hot town, summer in the city....back o'my neck getting dirt and gritty...should be fun!

Thanks all :hi:

7.  i will be watching same place as last year
from the ditmars blvd elevated station. can see most of the fireworks from there, as well as the local fireworks that get shot off near the triborough bridge and by astoria park. very good vantage point.
