Hello all,
Yeah, I know my post count is not that high, but I have been here a very long time (lurking since the start of the Conservative Idiots).
Anyway, I need some help--some rather stressful help. My wife and I are moving back to Rochester from Washington DC this summer, and I have decided I want to change up my career. For the last five years I have taught social studies(Japan, Hawai'i, and DC) in middle and high schools, and I am ready to move on from that profession.
My problem is simple, but exceptionally frustrating--I have talked with a number of employment centers in Rochester, and all of them have representatives who refuse to believe that teachers are qualified for anything outside of education. Obviously, this is not true, but it has made searching for a job more difficult.
I was hoping that some of you kind souls might be able to help me find a few recruitment centers that will work with me to find a full-time job in Rochester, might know of companies that are trying to fill professional vacancies and would consider a teacher, or might have some advice about how to pursue a career change (I am sure I am not the only one here who has decided to try something new).
If you have questions, would like to talk to me, see my resume, etc. please don't hesitate to PM me or post. If this violates some rules in the forum (and I have searched, so I apologize if I missed it), I understand what action will be taken. The end of the school year is coming up for me, and I just had another disheartening conversation with a recruitment agency--I am reaching out to wherever, whomever, and whatever I can.
