Just heard on the news Tasini has asked his supporters to vote AGAINST Clinton in the election. Wow, he is just the most wonderful, loyal dem............I really, really want to vote for him now.

I believe it was AAR, and I think the Majority Report. He was asked directly if he would support Hillary Clinton if she won the primary, and to my understanding he dodged the question entirely talking instead about his fundamental differences on the war. SO, I think he is VERY conflicted, but will come around and do right by the party.

he had what $50,000 in his campaign fund? He had more press than Clinton, and was on the news quite a bit. I didn't consider him for a second. He would have NEVER won even if he got the nomination. New York state is NOT New York City. If you looked at it you would see more red than blue. There are way too many repubs outside of NYC to get someone like Tasini elected. Clinton votes liberal on most things, but she represents ALL of New York, so she sometimes votes more conservative than most progressives would like. But, she gets repub votes, so who cares. She is not a Lieberman, so I will support her.

or misrepresented his willingness or unwillingness to support Clinton in the event that she was renominated. This prompted a series of questions intended to clarify the situation:


Did he discuss this during the campaign? ( This is relevant to your implication that he was concealing his 'true colors'); you fail to address it.

Did he pledge to support the pro-war Clinton if she won the primary? (Ditto; you fail to address it)

Did Clinton promise to support Tasini if he were to win?
(Ditto and ditto; what's good for the gander....)

This ( a debate) would have been an ideal opportunity for Clinton to extract a pledge of support from Tasini of the kind you seem to feel he owes her. She chose to benefit from her 'popularity' in the upper echelons of the corporate media world to avoid debating him altogether instead.

As for Tasini, it's up to him to decide whether he wants to support the DEM nominee. Lots of folks who supported him... mainly people who recoil at the idea of more dead Iraqi kids in a war of aggression that Clinton worked to put into motion and is working still to keep going ... will not. Some will.

My point: were Clinton more of an *adult* she wouldn't need her supporters to villify her opponents with vague, unsupported and *unattributed* ( we're still waiting for you to cite the source!) innuendo.

She should have been woman enough to discredit Tasini face to face. As usual, she wimped out. What a leader.

13. This is closer to what the post should read

Tasini's supporter who voted and thus trapped the conscience of the conscience candidate amount to some of the small vote garnered in the primary. The significance of this is so token that Tasini giving his imprimatur for a further protest vote is so nonthreatening as to be exactly that.

In this case it is not a plus for the GOP at all. In fact, a wiser thing would not to have that question in the first place but to grow the voice of protest in other ways. To demonstrate declining significance as defiant irrelevance will send a wrong message to Hillary. Her real anti-vote is among the media audience and Clinton haters who don't care a bit about Tasini's issues. Her left flank is secure, more secure than it deserves and she is free to aim at the presidency depending on the weakness of her right wing enemies.

An invitation to trample the loser is too easy to accept. We must seek better clout in the state in other ways, especially if Clinton does leave the Senate leaving the field wide open once more. Tasini was consistent in his cause but mistaken as a Democrat and political force simply because what he is calling for will fall so flat and splinter the splinter.

11. Hold Your Nose and Vote For Hillary

I voted for Tasini as a form of protest, he never had a prayer of getting elected. No question that I will vote for Hillary, but that does not mean I am happy with her job performance or want to see her as our party's candidate for president, it's just that even a cowardly and opportunistic democrat is better than any republican.
