I had to leave at 9, but Dave was doing very well. Most of the questioners were pretty hostile to King, who tried to act like people were spreading rumors about him and what he has done.

In a sign national Democrats see New York's 3rd Congressional District as a potential pickup, Mejias was added Thursday to the party's "Red to Blue" list of top Democratic campaigns. That gives him access to party donors who otherwise would have been out of his reach. Mejias also can expect a flood of extra campaign workers from Washington.

"I think being put on Red to Blue has been a huge fundraising advantage to me," he said. "Peter King obviously understands the dynamic also. He's spending $1.6 million on TV and mail. When was the last time he spent more than a couple of hundred thousand? That's how scared this guy is, and he should be."

Critics and several political observers say the increasingly strong invective of King's mailings, many aimed at attracting Jewish voters, accuse Mejias of being supported by "radical" Muslims and single out the Islamic Center of Long Island in Westbury as a hotbed of fanaticism. The mailings are signs of a candidate worried about his prospects, they say.

Rabbi Jerome Davidson of Temple Beth-El in Great Neck criticized King for labeling the Islamic Center a hotbed of "radical Islam."

"He's trying to scare people," Davidson said. "I really hate to say it, but it is a demagogue tactic similar to McCarthy."

With Spitzer and Hillary at top of ticket, should bring out more people for Mejias eventhough King seems to have a following of rabid McCarthy loving Republicans.

6. I met Dave's sister today

She's going around reminding people to vote.
She told me that their mom's car and house were vandalized...all her signs and bumper stickers were destroyed, and they stuck KING crap on her car. What scum!

If you see Dave's sister again please tell her to call Newsday about that. I'm sure they would be very interested to hear what's going. Hope they reported it to the police too. King is scum, I agree. I noticed on some of King's campaign leaflets he has quotes from Hillary Clinton saying what a good job he is doing. Gives the impression she is endorsing him. How King can go around saying he is "protecting" NY'ers when our Homeland Security anti-terror funds have been cut by 40%, is beyond me. Nassau & Suffolk have both gone blue in recent years, so let's hope Dave can pull this off! He does have the endorsement of both Newsday & the NY Times. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I find it hard to believe he's in danger, but if he lost I'd surely party. Going to vote for Mejias in about a half-hour. Wish me luck!

I gave a bunch of$$$$$$ to Mejias , after the new districts a few years back I now have a safe McCarthy for congresswoman.
