3. I lived in section 5... in buildings 32 and 29.
Nice views of the sound. A bit isolated but the apartments are fantastic and it's the last real housing bargain in the city... that I know of, anyway..

4. They said they wanted to put me someplace "safe"
I remember it from the old days and the population is distinctly different. I'll take another look tomorrow ... this could be an interesting experience ...

5. I'd recommend against taking a place near the Educational Complex...
Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 03:29 PM by PaulHo
that would be Buildings one, and two and a few others near there... Donizetti Place is one. Huge numbers of kids throng the area before during and after school. Also there's always been a lot of crime associated with the footbridge that crosses I95 in the direction of the #5 train. That's there also.

Also , consider the noise from the truck traffic on 95... hard to get used to. Section 5, on the other hand is fronted by the Hutch... no trucks no buses and much quieter. People told me to avoid Section 5 because of high crime but I always felt pretty safe and would vastly prefer it to the school area.

Also good places: buildings on the "A" streets, the "B" streets and even the "C" streets.

Good luck. If the schools were better I'd still be there myself.

6. Thank you. RiverBay says 90% there.
I'm a movin' to da Bronx

The interview was surreal: how to handle disappointed expectations? The answer: perseverance and competence.

So, I've canceled negotiations w/NYPD in Brooklyn and can take my time w/CCPD. I've seen enough facilities; what's lacking is the organizational capacity I'm going to introduce.

So keep an eye on the web site ... and if you have suggestions, I'm all ears!

7. Well, things aren't turning out as I planned
I'm working someplace else ... not for Riverbay after all and I just found out the apt next to my brother's is vacant. I'll see the landlord tomorrow ... ack!

11. I may end up there yet ... but life has taken another turn for me
I should be on the waiting list though ... the investigator came and everything. But I'll stay in Brooklyn one more year, next door to my brother. A balcony would have been nice - the fire escape will have to do ...

When I do make it - and it's still my plan - I'd love to meet. It just would have been fun as a staff member, but c'est la vie ... I wanted to redo the website anyhow, but they won't deal with me as a consultant. Damn.

12. I was a letter carrier in co-op city for a couple of years...
I also lived on Stillwell Ave. in a private house behind section five.

Haven't been in that part of the world for quite some time.
