We are visiting New York City (Manhattan) on the same days as....
the Pope. (April 19-21) What is past practice in Manhattan when one of these big wigs visits town? Do they shut
down the streets? Slow down transit?
We booked our trip so long ago and this is our first visit ever to any place east of the Mississippi.

1. avoid cars & busses
the subway and hoofing it are your only hope....

(Walking in the city is a delight and the subways are the fastest)

2. And pay attention to our media. Even subway entrances can be
closed but you'll get prior notice.

Enjoy the pomp!
