No You Can't
It's no secret that Sen. Eric Adams is a big Barack Obama supporter; he was one of a small group of New York Democrats to break with the hometown pack and endorse the Illinois senator over Hillary Clinton.
...
So, it's no surprise that Adams is promoting a Citizens for Obama event taking place tomorrow, during which participants will walk across the Brooklyn Bridge as part of a nationwide "day of action" orchestrated by the Obama campaign.
The surprising part, however, is that Adams is faxing out flyers for the event, along with a personal letter urging recipients to attend, from his taxpayer-funded district office and using state letterhead.
Adams defended the move, saying he doesn't consider this a political event, but rather one that will celebrate diversity and "build a more perfect union." The senator said he views Obama's campaign as a potential "catalyst" for improving race relations far beyond politics.
He also pointed out that the flyer specifically mentions that the event is open to people other than Obama supporters - "anyone wearied of the world of the politics of the past and ready for something new."
