Massa? How's he doing guys?
I've given some money to him. He and John Powers were up in Rochester the day after Labor Day - at a Vets meeting my dad attended. I lived in Rochester for 30 years and moved down to NJ a few years ago because in George Bush's global economy - I had to 'leave home' to find a world class job.

Please please let him kick Randy Kuhl's ass straight into Lake Ontario. Please!!!!! He's a nice guy - actually sent me a hand written note after I gave and sent a nice letter over to him.

Please let Eric Massa win!!!! I checked the Channel 13 web site and saw nothing on this race a little while ago! :-(

1. NY closes at 9. He was polling good when they opened this morning, I think he's going to win.
I met him in '04 here in Manhattan at a small fundraiser. Smart guy.

2. Pacing
My dad was super impressed - and he doesn't super impress easily! Okay - I'm waiting, waiting waiting.

My parents are back home in Rochester and they are BOTH still taking elderly and shut ins to the polls. My mom has taken 23 people from Geneseo on up to Hilton today! Oy vey!

3. I hope so
I lived in *sigh* Elmira two years ago, and I was phoning & knocking for Massa. He really deserves a seat, much more so than "Shotgun" Randy.

4. Doing well, but this is early
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 09:39 PM by PATRICK
Just got back from phone calling and one poll watching fill in. This is a tough district and it will take time for the bigger numbers to roll in, especially from areas where the Dems have surged. I still expect a good win- logically. No hanky panky robocalls, lots of astute campaign help and better coverage of everything. Kuhl is just a flat tire and the GOP should not be very inspired to do much to bail him out. We lost by 6000 last time. Even a cliffhanger should favor us.

Unfortunately, we will likely have to wait a chunk of time.Louise Slaughter is already massacring her opponent and she is an incumbent. Kuhl is barely ahead in the small early vote. Kryzan and Maffei also too early. Powers bowed out at last to help Kryzan. Won't be much change unfortunately in the state races
around here.

5. Massa and Maffei pull ahead
looking reeeeeal good! The easier district in most people's mind was Kryzan but it looks tough for her tonight with Powers STILL taking 4% of the vote. 68% reporting and Massa leads with 52, Maffei with 54, Arcuri will repeat and the gerrymandered hegemony is busted wide open, despite a dumb meltdown in the dem primary for Reynolds' old seat.

So far, hot damn!

6. Massa holding at 52 with 75 %
They keep showing the near empty dismal Kuhl celebration headquarters. Maffei declared winner! Seat flips Dem!

8. 80% reporting
and Massa still at 52%. The toaster is taking a long time and Kuhl will come up completely burned.

9. 94%
and he slips a bit leading by 6000. This is where we see if we can hold the show together. Huge turnout.
Damn, I said this would be close.

10. Kuhl speaking
20,000 absentee votes, etc. Go home and get some sleep everyone. Another week to count the absentees? Arghh.

Crap, ALL you see on local news is Kuhl's headquarters and he isn't saying goodbye yet.

Massa still ahead by about 6000 votes.

11. OK Kuhl avoided conceding
but the situation is literally reversed from 2006 with Kuhl's longshot hope in making up the distance with only the absentee ballots(my two girls cancel out his two sons!). Some mischief maybe in the southern tier for Kuhl but it looks like an unofficial seal for Massa.
