Anti-gay Kansans to picket at three shuls and a high school in Brooklyn

The Westboro Baptist Church has announced that in the coming days it will be protesting at three synagogues (including the one I attend) and a high school (Brooklyn Tech).

A Kansas-based anti-gay Baptist church has targeted Brooklyn, organizing rallies set for Thursday and Saturday at a high school and two Park Slope Jewish synagogues and a Cobble Hill temple to protest the institutions’ apparent godlessness.

The Westboro Baptist Church, whose mission is represented clearly in its Web site address, www.godhatesfags.com, announced this week that it would protest in front of Brooklyn Technical HS in Fort Greene after classes are dismissed tomorrow and at Congregation Beth Elohim and Union Temple on Saturday.

“We will essentially ignore it,” (Rabbi Andy Bachman) said. “On Saturday, we will have about 800 people observing the Shabbat in an open tolerant community. That’s the best response to this bizarre and virulent hatred.”

What a bizarre and silly thing to do. So they specifically hate Jewish gays and brilliant educated ones?
