I just donated 50$ to the DEM candidate for NYC mayor.
At this site:
http://www.thompson2009.com/site/home /

There was a nauseating article in yesterday's NY TIMES indicating that Mr. Obama may be planning a non-endorsement and actually prefers the republican candidate, billionaire Michael ("Term-limits") Bloomberg to the candidate that we DEMS just nominated in an open primary with a *landslide* majority, NYC Comptroller Bill Thompson.

Obama can do as he sees fit, but he seems increasingly confused about who he is and what he's doing. I see fit to support our nominee.

I will wait two weeks. If the President does not endorse Thompson without hesitation within that time, my 2009-20010 DNC contribution will go to the Thompson campaign.

I recommend others do the same. I did not cross state lines last year, dragging a reluctant teenage son and two semi-enthusiastic adult friends to walk the neighborhoods of west Philly, banging on doors in order to secure this kind of "leadership."

Anybody thinking the same thoughts?

1. Bloomberg sees your $50 and will raise you $1,000,000
I'd save your money, we're looking at 4 more years at a Bloomberg NYC.

2. Maybe yes... maybe no.
Part of the media "narrative" of all of Bloomberg's campaigns is the *inevitability* of Bloomberg. They are counting on the power of self-fulfilling prophesy. It's a good strategy... these PR people don't make the big bucks for nothing.

So most of the current $$media coverage of Thompson... if there is any at all..... is of "underdog" Thompson, shouldering bravely on despite... blah, blah, blah".

However: Last polling I saw had Thompson down by about 10. Bloomberg is less popular ( i.e. NYers are less dumb) than he was 4 yrs ago. Even the most *inattentive* of citizens figured out the term limits scam. They appear ( most of them) to remain clueless about the rest of a myriad of misrepresentations and PR schemes characterized by the current mayoral admin.

Nonetheless.. it stands to reason that the race will be closer than 2005... just on the basis of the term-limits fiasco alone.

Re. Obama: He did endorse Thompson yesterday ... but unless he campaigns for him in person and with some appreciable enthusiasm in next two weeks.... I'm sending my DNC bucks to Thompson.

No skin off my back... I'm sending the bucks to *someone*; just a matter of discerning where they will be likely to do the most good.
