State Sen. Eric Schneiderman gets Anthony Weiner's endorsement for attorney general

ALBANY - State Sen. Eric Schneiderman on Tuesday reveled in his role as the liberal in the attorney general's race - scoring the endorsement of fellow "progressive" Rep. Anthony Weiner.

"The only choice for progressives is Eric Schneiderman," Weiner said, praising the Manhattan Democrat for his advocacy on issues like workplace equity and stiffer foreclosure protections.

Weiner became the latest potential 2013 mayoral contender to back Schneiderman's AG campaign.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer are all already on board.
