SUNYPalooza - 15 March 2011

Hey all, I was just wondering if there were any SUNY students here at DU who were planning on coming to Albany for SUNYPalooza. I'm hoping that we can represent both DU and our respective schools at this event.

For those who don't know, the Governor of New York has proposed over $200M in cuts to the State University of New York, which operates 64 campuses with nearly 500,000 students enrolled. Additionally, this is the third straight budget that makes such drastic cuts; in total, the cuts amounted to 1/3 of the SUNY budget before the cuts began. And adding insult to injury, whenever the students of SUNY were handed a tuition increase, because said increases went into the state's General Fund, only 10% of the increase actually went to SUNY's operations budget.
