1. Yep! Stats inside...
I cross posted this because a) this is a better thread for this info and b) I haven't posted enough to create a new post yet. Sorry all.

I now think that Obama will absolutely win North Carolina!

I ran a few numbers. First, you can get the early vote stats here.

1) 2.6 million voters have already voted.

2) 51.5% are Dems, 30.1% Repub, 18.5% Ind.

3) Assuming the Independents broke 60/40 for McCain (generous)...

4) That gives us 1.5 million Obama, 1.0 million McCain (also assuming people voted their party - which could actually go either way).

5) There are now 6.2 million registered voters. Assuming a 70% turnout (extraordinarily generous and unlikely), subtracting the early voters, and giving McCain 60% (very generous) of the votes tomorrow...

6) That gives us about 2.2 million Obama to 2.14 million McCain.

This does not even take into account the fact that Registered Dems outnumber Registered Repubs by 800,000.

These are obviously just my opinions and could be way off on my assumptions, but it makes me feel pretty hopeful.

2. Don't forget about the weather either...
With heavy rain forecast for the eastern (really, really red) part of the state, I think that has to help our cause. If the base of the GOP in NC consist of the rural, elderly, white voters, I think a day of rain helps us because the older folks won't want to stand in the rain for hours to vote for a loser. With our candidate in the presumed lead as of this moment, McPalin needs more turnout, not less.

Based on those numbers, they need ALOT of voters to make up the early vote difference.

4. signs
And why do people steal them.

My Obama sign was stolen from in front of my house during the night. The McCain one across the street was untouched. What do these people think they are accomplishing?

Today is the day to prove they are on the wrong side.

5. May I recommend...
...that you NCers band together and insist that your individual COUNTY results be CALLED in, instead of transmitted electronically, to the central State Election Results Center.

It has been proven, (and it allegedly happened in Ohio 2004), that data can be intercepted and altered when transmitted electronically. Why do you think the McCain camp has been so certain that they can still win PA, OH, NC and VA? At least insist that the results be verified by phone after they are transmitted.

Do something now, before the election is stolen. Tomorrow is too late...

6. I'm going to make the call right now on this one.
There is still time as the polls close in NC at 7:30 pm. We don't want all of our hard work stolen. We still need to fight until the end. Thanks for all the good info. Yes we can!
