Cary, NC -- Gov. Beverly Perdue says her energy reform plan will make North Carolina a leading state for the green economy by helping create jobs and spur investment.
Perdue discussed her renewable energy initiatives Thursday while touring a solar panel farm in Cary operated by private software developer SAS (sass) Institute that provides power to an electric utility.
The governor said she'll use about $35 million in federal stimulus funds to beef up work force training in higher education, boost grants and create loans for small businesses in emerging green energy fields.
Federal recovery money also will be used to improve energy efficiency in businesses, homes and other buildings.
