Vet recommendations in Durham-Chapel Hill area?
I am looking for a vet in the Durham chapel hill area. Does anyone have a recommendation. I hesitate to pull one out of the directory without checking with the smartest people I know.

Two of my m kitties are in that age were they need to be fixed and I need to see about shots for the younger ones.

Any recs/thoughts would be appreciated. I haven't had to have a family vet before.

1. Depends on just where you live
I have used Dr. Ken Redman at Vine Vet. in Chapel Hill for decades for shots, N/S, and first-level treatment for sickness or injury. Good with pets and owners, with informing owners and helping balance QofL and cost/benefit issues, far from fancy operation but good care.

Redman and most similar "family" vets in this area now have office hours like most GPs for people. There are several vets that provide emergency care 24/7 and you need to plan who to call and where to go, not waiting until a crisis at 3am Sunday.

I think the best in this area is Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Cary and in North Raleigh for 24/7 emergency and for specialists. They are the vet version of Duke or UNC Hospitals. Several months ago, my cat had surgery and is now receiving chemo under the care of one of their oncologists. So far, he is doing quite well.

PM if you have questions about specific vets. There are a few I would not recommend, but I prefer that be in private.

4. I don't really know anything about Neuse River, but
Bowman Animal Hospital in North Raleigh is outstanding! But if you're looking in Wendell, I'm guessing you don't live near North Raleigh. :hi:
