Police investigate pipe bomb explosion (video)

LINCOLNTON — Lincolnton police are still trying to find out who detonated a bomb on Halloween night.

A pipe bomb exploded in Roby Jetton’s West Pine Street yard just before midnight on Oct. 31. Jetton heard the detonation but didn’t know what happened until the following day after church.

“It made an incredible noise,” Jetton said.

Jetton was asleep on the couch when the bomb exploded in his yard. The noise startled him, but he dismissed it and went back to sleep. The next day Jetton noticed his truck was making an unusual noise. Upon further inspection, he discovered pieces of the bomb.

In Lincoln County, apparently there were some problems between Lincoln County Sheriff Tim Daugherty and another Democrat named Roby Jetton.

Then, a pipe bomb was detonated outside Jetton's house. Police are saying there might be a political motivation behind it.

Does anyone have any more information about the beef between these two?
