Why did the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church cancel the 7th District Dems' Dinner?

The dinner was announced in the Bladen Journal:

ELIZABETHTOWN — The 7th Congressional District Democratic leadership dinner will be held Friday, Jan. 8, at the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church’s welcome center.

Yesterday, this email was forwarded to me by a friend. It describes how all of a sudden the 7th District Dems had to
find a new place to hold the dinner. Read WHY.

Dear Democrats,
When today's Bladen Journal newspaper announced that our Seventh District Leadership Dinner would be held at the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church, _there was a firestorm of protest from church members who did not want an organization with our racial makeup to use their church_!
Therefore, the Church cancelled their verbal contract for us to use their facility!

The New Location Will Be:
