NC Lawmakers driving to raise auto insurance rates?
Its easy to see why the GOP has been minority party for 112 years. Now that they have majority in state house and state senate,
they are doing alot of crazy bad stuff. (Vote suppression laws, cutting 22,000 teaching jobs and more). Here's the latest,
they want to help insurance companies get richer while making us pay more.

Lawmakers driving to raise auto insurance rates?

...
Now, most of us, especially parents with young drivers, carp about paying insurance. But the fact is North Carolina has the eighth-lowest rates in the nation and the lowest in the Southeast. The Department of Insurance hasn't signed off on a rate increase in more than 15 years.

It's hard to see what needs fixing.

Yet, there are three bills out there, Senate Bill 490, SB 477 and House Bill 834, that give a fix a go.

The latter two bills would allow higher rates for so-called “clean risk'' drivers.
...
State Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin is opposed to all three measures but is taking particular aim at SB 490. Goodwin says the bill strips the insurance commissioner's authority to put a cap on insurance rates, take away the commissioner's ability to determine if rates are excessive and allows insurance companies to jack up rates without his department's approval, allowing them to charge more regardless of a driver's record on the road. It also would end North Carolina's practice of being able to order refunds to policyholders in drivers are overcharged.

are almost as bad as Wisconsin's idiots, trying to cram every radical right agenda item through while they have their brief period of power. Fortunately, North Carolinians have a governor who is a sensible Democrat. And hopefully, voters won't let this go unnoticed. What a bunch.
