The choice was simple: Stand with hardworking consumers struggling with skyrocketing health insurance rates, or stand with the giant health insurance companies and their record-breaking profits.
Last week, your state Insurance Commissioner didn't side with consumers. And because of that vote, we may lose out on more than $1 billion in health insurance rebates due us under the new health care law!
By a narrow vote, state Insurance Commissioners told Congress to undo a new rule in the law that gives us a rebate if our insurance company uses too much of our premium on their profits and overhead. If Congress listens, we could lose out on the money due us, as well as a real incentive for insurers to keep rates down and in line with health care costs.
Make sure your state Insurance Commissioner knows what you think about this, and tell your members of Congress too! We'll send your message to both.
