The NC Verified Voting Coalition that managed to spearhead the passage of SB223 (VVPB Voting Bill) needs help monitoring how the bill will be implemented by observing your Local Election Board in these counties:
Gaston, Cabarrus and Mecklenberg (Please are there any DU'ers O8) who can help with these Counties)
North Carolina Counties must upgrade their voting machines by the 2006 Elections and the Touchscreen DRE machine Producers are already out there pushing hard to get these machines in place by convincing Election Officials in these counties that adding a "Printer" to DRE's will satisfy the requirements of a "Verified Paper Ballot" which the Bill demands. We can't allow this to happen in these large counties! :-(
The NCVVV Coalition needs citizen volunteers to attend and oversee the Board of Elections Meetings and keep pressure on them to assure we get verified Ballot Machines where a full paper ballot is filled out by the voter and can be counted by hand if needed.
We have prepared a kit with the information you need to work with and guide your elections officials.
If anyone can help with this please PM me here at DU. It would be great if we could get several persons in each county to share the time that would be needed to attend the four to five meetings and keep in touch with your Elections Officials.
