Thank you!
Tuesday night was a tremendously exciting night for me, for Asheville and hopefully for all of you. Thank you all so much for your support, your time, your letters, and your votes. I am very pleased with our showing in yesterday's election. There are those who said it wasn't possible or it couldn't be done. To them, I say: grassroots politics works. We talked to people about what they really want and clearly a lot of people responded to that. Thank you for your efforts and for helping to make it happen.
Voter turnout was much higher than expected, almost double the turnout from the October 11 th primary. Turnout in precincts that voted heavily for me was up even more. This lets me know that our outreach worked and that people want representatives on council who care enough to hit the streets and find out what they have to say. I appreciate all of the hard work and support that went into making that happen.
A lot of people last night asked me w! hat to do now. As you know, Terry Bellamy's win as Mayor opens a fourth council seat for an appointee. Precedent says that it should be the fourth vote getter and would put me in that slot. But, city council is not bound to select the fourth vote getter. So, again, it's time to let your voices be heard.
You can contact all of the incumbent and incoming council members and let them know that you support appointing Bryan Freeborn to the open council seat.

The future of Asheville is bright. Brighter today than yesterday because progressive voices have been heard. The challenges facing the next city council are real. The decisions made by the next city council will directly impact our quality of life. I believe that Asheville is a great place to live. The courage and lead! ership of a progressive city council will take us where we need to be. I appreciate all you have done so far. I'm asking for your support again now to push council to make the right appointment when the time comes.
Sincerely,
Bryan Freeborn
