North Carolina
What is North Carolina like mainly the areas of and near Durham? What is the job market like? What are the people like? Could you give me any other information I might not have thought to ask?

1. NC
I live in Chapel Hill, which is right near Durham.....Chapel Hill is a very progressive town, location of UNC. The people in NC are for the most part very friendly. The job market seems to be pretty good, although I can't really compare it to other areas, as I don't know what it is like in other areas... housing is relatively cheap compared to most other areas or so I have been told.

Do you like it in NC? Is there any way you could tell me if Durham is progressive? How good is the Democratic participation.

5. Durham is fairly progressive. The Dem primary _IS_ the local election.
I moved to the Triangle 8 years ago, and I love it here.
I recommend it highly to anyone.

4. NC is a great place to live!
Chapel Hill and Durham are both progressive areas; Raleigh (Wake County) is more in the red.

For local job listings check out:

www.trianglejobs.com
and http://www.heraldsun.com/classifieds/index.cfm?CFID=2671552&CFTOKEN=39926674

Housing market is pretty good here. Prices for homes are much lower than NY, NJ, Fl or Cal.

I moved here from Fl about 12 years ago, and I would never move back to FL unless I had too.

Good Luck!

6. Triangle is good for finding jobs.
Other areas probably good for finding jobs are Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Charlotte. My experience with the triangle and Greensboro is that the people are typically friendly except for on the road. lol.

Some areas you might want to avoid. Some of these areas close to the mounts (Denton for example) can be really racist in my opinion. Not very tolerant. Fundamentalists are us!!! I'd stay away from those areas. They don't have much work anyway.
