1. I voted May 20.
If we want to try the American Tobacco Warehouse, that weekend or the weekend before would be good since the Bulls will be out of town.

4. I don't know.
But it looks like it's the 6th.

(We had planned to go to the beach this weekend but I don't know if I'm going because of the weather. I should know by tonight.)

What about location? Greenshields is now open in Cary. We ate at the Blue Corn Cafe on Ninth St. in Durham a couple of times in the past month and it was good. There is Carolina Ale House on 15/501. Could still do something at the American Tobacco Warehouse. There should still be parking if you get there before the game.

6. The 6th is fine.
I decided to stay home since it looks like rain for part of the weekend. Saturday here will be nice so if anyone wants to try to do outdoor seating, it should be good.

9. The Tobacco Warehouse sounds interesting
Do they have places to sit outside? What's the weather supposed to be like tomorrow evening?

10. Let's avoid the ballpark area if there's a game.
Blue Corn is certainly OK with me.

Does anybody know about Blue Nile? I just tried their phone and it seems to be disconnected.

13. Have you all tried Kim Son?
Edited on Fri May-05-06 08:35 PM by supernova
It's out on Guess Road, fairly close to Northgate. It's Vietnamese and really good. Everything I've gottent there has been super fresh.

edit: Kim Son, not Dim Son. :eyes: :D

Do you know of any convenient Jamaican or Ethiopian places?

16. Other than Blue Nile, no
Sorry.

There apparently is a Jamaican place on 55 but the reviews don't look too good.

I will drive out to Blue Nile tomorrow and see what the deal is. I've been itching to go in that thrift store anyway.

18. I've been to Jamaica-Jamaica and liked it. BUT ..
.. sometimes they put on really loud music, which has kept me away for some time now.

Sounds interesting. They close at 9:30 though, but then so does the Blue Corn Cafe.

19. We could go back to Five Points and do Devine's or Satisfaction

Or there is (or used to be?) another place with outdoor seating might be convenient, if it's still there. If you go down University away from downtown, you get to that traffic light at the strip mall where another street (I'm forgettin its name) curves in from the right. So you turn right there and follow the road down a ways: there is (or used to be?) a Shrimp Boat and KFC on the left and an old red brick movie-theatre-become-church on the right and then in like the next block there is (or was?) a place set back from the road slightly with a gravel parking lot. Fowler's? Something like that. Used to be a good place for a sammitch and bottle of brewski.

There's also an ok Chinese buffet over by the Ale House where we met before -- down the same little street another half block on the left.

Spatakas over by the old South Square was alright too: I forget how their prices were.

20. Oh, that's right.
I was trying to remember the name of the place by James Joyce. Devine's.

I think you're thinking of Fosters and they close at 8. We could do a late afternoon there sometime.

Spartacus might be a little pricey.

21. I've always thought Devine's an okay place for outdoor chatting.
You pay bar prices for food, but it wasn't ridiculous last I was there.

You're right: it was Foster's I was thinking of ...

But I'd say Devine's to avoid the ballpark.

25. The Bulls game starts at 5 today.
That means the parking garage will probably be full. Parking in that area will be a little tough today.

24. I didn't realize Foster's closed so early. I'd root for Devine's but
if you prefer the Tobacco Warehouse, it's ok with me: there might be some parking restrictions associated with the game.
