Antiwar group plans Bush protest (Fayetteville / Tues noon?)

A Fayetteville antiwar group is organizing a protest of President Bush’s Fourth of July visit to Fort Bragg.

The group, Fayetteville Peace With Justice, will gather Tuesday afternoon at the Market House in downtown Fayetteville, Lou Plummer, one of the organizers, said Friday.

Details are still being worked out, Plummer said, but he anticipates the rally will be held around noon.

“It’s going to be ad hoc and, at this point, it looks more or less like it’s going to be, not a picket line, but ... a group of people with a visible presence to let the community know there are some vocal anti-Bush activists in the area,” Plummer said ...

“President Bush is expected to visit Fort Bragg for the Fourth of July, according to Republican activist Robert C. Anderson and several people who spoke on the condition that their names not be used. The visit will be in the morning, said one source. The president is expected to visit with the troops and their families as part of the holiday activities, the source said. The president is not expected to venture away from Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base during his visit.”
